The senior project manager is responsible for planning, leading, organising, and motivating multiple project teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering projects that provide exceptional customer and business value.

This role requires high energy, focus and engagement and the ability to create high performing cross directorate project teams and will involve the delivery of complex digital projects of strategic importance to the NMC.

Key Responsibilities:
*To lead projects effectively and efficiently throughout the project lifecycle, delivering on time and within agreed budgets, to NMC standards.

*Focus on delivery, empowering the project team and tackling blockers.

*Ensure the project objectives are aligned to corporate and local strategies.

*Develop business cases, product descriptions and project plans in line with the NMC's PMO standard processes and templates. Revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

*Ensuring project benefits are tracked and reported.

*Manage day-to-day operational aspects of project and scope, monitor performance against plans and take effective corrective action if required.

*Matrix management of resources across the organisation, coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors/consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan and budget.

*Manage overall project communication, ensuring that all external and internal stakeholders are engaged with throughout the project.

*Set up and maintain the necessary project governance structures in line with the NMC Project framework, and report on project progress to project sponsors and programme board where appropriate.

*Ensure that risks are identified, recorded, assessed and managed appropriately and escalated where required.

*To work with finance to determine project budgets and resource requirements, and manage the budget throughout the project lifecycle with appropriate reporting.

*Work collaboratively with the programme managers to ensure the project is integrated into the portfolio and cross-project dependencies are managed.

*Comply with NMC policies and procedures as compiled on the organisation's intranet (Equality and Diversity, Data Protection, etc.).
