Database Reporting Engineer / Financial Services / 12-Month Extendable Contract

Join a global financial services firm to develop and support innovative reporting solutions for trade data, serving clients across sales, trading, risk, finance, operations, and technology in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with clients to understand their data needs and respond to urgent regulatory-related data inquiries
• Develop reports using SQL, Business Objects, Qlikview, PERL, and Python
• Perform database query performance tuning across DB2, Sybase, and Snowflake
• Analyze reporting tasks to identify optimal data sources and extraction techniques
• Collaborate with an offshore team of developers on task prioritization and escalation

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (implied from technical requirements)
• SQL development experience with Sybase, DB2, Greenplum, and Snowflake
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and SQL tuning
• Strong UNIX/PERL/Python scripting skills
• Self-starter with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Team player able to learn quickly and collaborate across global teams
• Highly motivated to expand technical and business knowledge
• Fluent understanding of the complete software development lifecycle
• Experience in the financial services industry (preferred)
• Proficiency in PERL and Python (or Java/C# with willingness to learn PERL) (preferred)
• Knowledge of Business Objects, Qlikview, Tableau, or Sigma (preferred)
