We are seeking a hands-on Head of CyberSecurity Officer who has progressed through the technical security ranks and is ready to lead our security strategy in a lean, agile environment. This role is ideal for a security leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, driving complex security initiatives end-to-end, and building scalable security practices that support business growth.
The role will oversee enterprise-wide cybersecurity programs, lead critical security transformations, guide stakeholders across the business, and ensure our technology landscape remains secure, resilient, and aligned to modern threats—especially in areas such as Zero Trust, data protection, and AI security.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the organisation’s overall cybersecurity strategy, roadmap, and governance frameworks.
- Serve as the principal advisor on all cybersecurity matters to senior management and key business units.
- Champion a security-first culture across the organisation.
Hands-On Technical Expertise
- Act as a working technical leader, capable of diving deep into security engineering, architecture design, and operational troubleshooting when needed.
- Directly support teams in evaluating and deploying modern security platforms and tools.
Security Program Management
- Lead and execute key enterprise security initiatives, including:
- Zero Trust Architecture enhancement and enterprise rollout.
- Deployment of system-agnostic Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capabilities across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Security risk assessments and governance for AI projects and implementations, including LLM usage, model security, data protection, and compliance considerations.
Operational Security Leadership
- Establish and maintain security operations processes including incident response, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and continuous monitoring.
- Mentor and guide a small, lean security team; manage outsourced or managed security partners where necessary.
- Ensure adherence to relevant frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
Risk & Compliance
- Own the enterprise risk management framework related to cybersecurity.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Prepare reports for executive leadership and board-level security committees.
Key Projects You Will Lead
- Zero Trust Strategy Overhaul & Rollout – Modernising identity, access control, network segmentation, and device trust.
- System-Agnostic DLP Implementation – Designing a unified data protection framework that works across SaaS, endpoints, cloud storage, and internal systems.
- AI Security & Governance – Developing security controls for AI development and deployment, establishing responsible AI usage policies, and evaluating model risks.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven background as a hands-on security engineer, architect, or practitioner prior to leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success working in lean environments with limited resources.
- Strong experience leading major security transformation projects.
- Expertise in cloud security, Zero Trust principles, data protection, and emerging technologies including AI/ML environments.
