Company / Role Overview
An established multinational organisation is seeking a Senior Infrastructure & Security Specialist to join its technology team. The position sits within a lean internal technology function supported by external consultants and service providers. The role combines hands-on infrastructure operations with network and cloud security, cybersecurity initiatives, incident management and vendor coordination. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of a hybrid on-premise and cloud environment while ensuring infrastructure remains secure, resilient and operationally effective.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support day-to-day network, cloud and workplace infrastructure operations, maintaining system availability, performance and security.
- Design, maintain and secure network infrastructure, including enterprise firewalls, VPN connectivity, intrusion detection/prevention controls, network segmentation and wireless/network access infrastructure.
- Administer Zero Trust and secure remote-access solutions supporting users, branch locations, internet and SaaS connectivity, data-centre access and private applications.
- Secure cloud environments through appropriate identity and access controls, encryption, logging, monitoring and infrastructure hardening practices.
- Monitor infrastructure, network, cloud and security alerts; investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis and support timely resolution of operational and security issues.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives including vulnerability management, penetration testing, infrastructure security assessments, compliance reviews, data-loss prevention and incident-response readiness.
- Develop and maintain incident-response procedures, participate in security exercises and contribute to broader infrastructure, cybersecurity and emerging-technology security planning.
- Coordinate internal technology, security and external service providers, tracking service levels, managing escalations and maintaining appropriate technical and operational documentation.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, covering areas such as systems, networks, security administration and/or cloud support.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure security or security engineering/operations.
- Strong experience supporting hybrid environments spanning on-premise infrastructure and public cloud platforms.
- Hands-on knowledge across enterprise networking and security technologies, including switches, wireless access points, next-generation firewalls, advanced threat protection and Zero Trust network access.
- Practical experience with SIEM, vulnerability-management/scanning tools and cloud security technologies, together with exposure to identity management, encryption, logging and monitoring controls.
- Previous involvement in at least one incident-response exercise, infrastructure/security audit or penetration-testing engagement, with an understanding of vulnerability remediation and security compliance.
- Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities and take ownership of issues, with strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder-management and communication skills. Flexibility to occasionally support activities outside standard working hours may be required due to operational, vendor or time-zone requirements.
